Letter from the Chairman

Happy New Year!

And I hope everyone had a pleasant holiday season.

As Hobie Class Association, Division 12 Chairman I would like to hear from all Hobie sailors, on their ideas to make the class stronger and to help every sailor sail better.

As I have sailed at both fun events and have done some racing, I’ve met a wide variety of sailors, some who only race, some who fun sail only, and many who do both.

Being the Chairman for this area, the Fleet Commodores and I are concerned with the need to have events for all in our group.

So we, as the officers, always try to have something for everyone, and I think we do.

What we don’t have is the influx of new sailors. We should all want to promote our sport, because a large part of this sport is meeting new sailors and having fun together.

There are many, many boats out there, most everyone knows where there is one in someone back yard. Many of those boat owners don’t know this group exists.

If you have a name of someone who’s interested or know of someone with an old boat and you’re too shy to talk to them, send them to one of us, or the website.

The need to get those boats on the water is now, this year.

The Hobie Class is for the promotion of Hobie Cat Sailing. As Class officers we would like your help and ideas to make the upcoming sailing season enjoyable to you and your friends. Anyone on this website may be contacted to answer questions or to give you the name of someone who can.

Remember, we all volunteer for you.

I hope the winter is good and cold, so when the warm weather comes we’ll see you all on the water.
